With all the beautiful sunshine and higher temperatures, the ground is rapidly drying out but the going at Aintree promises to be good. We are taking Somersby for the Melling Chase (2m 4f) on Friday and Calgary Bay for the Grand National on Saturday. Robert (Choc) Thornton rides the former, and Hadden Frost gets the leg up for his first experience of the big fences on the next day.
Both horses are fit and well. The racing is sure to be very competitive and there will be some of the best English and Irish horses taking part. Terry is looking forward to sizing up the Liverpool talent on “Ladies Day” on Friday. There are always some amazing sights!
Next week we plan to have even more runners – weather permitting, and I will be attending the Brightwells Sales at Cheltenham on Wednesday 13th. This is a sale largely comprising ex Point to Point horses for Ireland and it has a great record. Cheltenian who won the Festival bumper in 2011 was sold at it in 2010, and other good winners include Line Freedom, Wayward Prince, Realth Dubh, Minella Class and Peddlers Cross
